St. George, Grenada – September 8, 2016 – G.U.T. Credit Union has awarded 11 scholarships to students attending the T.A. Marryshow Community College. The scholarship presentation was held on Thursday 8th at the Horizon Plaza. Each student received $1000 toward tuition for the 2016-2017 academic year. “Education, as we know it, is the means that elevates us from poverty,” noted Andre Martin, president of the GUT Credit Union’s Board of Directors. “Bearing this in mind, the G.U.T. Credit Union has embarked on a mission to assist the cognitive development of our nation’s children.” Mr. Martin encouraged the students to strive for excellence. “We expect you, as the old adage says, to lift your parents nose, but more so we expect you to remain focused on your goals and overcome the inevitable challenges associated with tertiary education.” This year’s recipients were selected based on academic performance, financial need and an essay outlining their goals. The scholarships are part of the G.U.T. Credit Union’s commitment to supporting the education of young persons throughout Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique. Since 2012, over 70 students have benefited from this scholarship.
